ORDINANCE NO. 2026-04
VILLAGE OF RIDGEWAY, IOWA COUNTY, WISCONSIN
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE VILLAGE OF RIDGEWAY MUNICIPAL CODE OF ORDINANCES REMOVING REFERENCES TO THE OFFICE OF VILLAGE MARSHAL AND RELATED POSITIONS
The Village Board of the Village of Ridgeway at its meeting held on July 14, 2026 has adopted Ordinance 2026-04, amending the Village of Ridgeway Municipal Code to remove references to the Office of Village Marshal and related positions following the discontinuation of that office by Charter Ordinance.
The ordinance updates numerous sections of the Municipal Code by replacing references to the Village Marshal with "designated law enforcement agency" or "designated law enforcement officer," as appropriate. It also revises the chapter governing law enforcement, civil defense, and the fire department to reflect the Village's current law enforcement structure while maintaining existing law enforcement powers, duties, and enforcement authority. Additional amendments make corresponding updates throughout the Code relating to parking enforcement, licensing, inspections, animal control, abandoned vehicles, public nuisances, loitering, ordinance enforcement, floodplain regulations, and other administrative provisions.
This ordinance takes effect upon publication as required by Wisconsin law.
A copy of the full ordinance is available below or for inspection during regular business hours at the Village Clerk's Office located at 208 Jarvis St., Ste A, Ridgeway, WI 53582 or in the file below.
